Bob Dylan, NJN

So what if Dylan is Jewish he can celebrate Christmas

Street Newspaper Association interviews Dylan on Christmas in the Heart

Bob Dylan – Must Be Santa

Isn’t that the craziest party Christmas party song?

Some people think it’s incongruous that Bob Dylan, born a Jew, should put out a Christmas album. Humbug we say.

Jew Christian what’s the difference. Jesus was a Jew for the love of Peter Paul and Mary.

NASNA got an exclusive interview with Dylan about the Christmas CD.

Makes sense: the proceeds are being dedicated to reducing poverty which is an awful scourge in the land of plenty.

“From the very first, this was an artist who made us look at the familiar with new eyes and ears. While some critics tie themselves into knots analyzing Dylan’s motives, it has usually turned out that Bob Dylan means exactly what he says. Featuring members of his touring band along with Los Lobos’ David Hidalgo and Chess Records vet Phil Upchurch, Christmas In The Heart is Bob Dylan’s celebration of family, community, faith and shared memory. And a timely celebration it is. Recognizing the world wide problem of hunger, Bob Dylan has donated all of his proceeds from the record, in perpetuity, to organizations around the world to help with hunger and homelessness.”

In Hibbing Minnesota Dylan would have been surrounded by eastern European and American Christmas festivities.

Well, you know, plenty of snow, jingle bells, Christmas carolers going from house to house, sleighs in the streets, town bells ringing, nativity plays. That sort of thing.

You can listen to that crazy song again. Be my guest.

I can’t believe that Bob Dylan the King of the Counter-Culture has hired someone called Web Sheriff to harass his fans.

It these guys work for Dylan, how greedy is that?

Not so much greed as it is protection. While most people mean well in putting up their own copies of other people’s work, this cannot always be guaranteed. It is impossible to check and verify each and every home page. I don’t know if Bob Dylan is behind these actions (I suspect it is his management), but you can understand the necessity in this unpredictable Internet world in which we live. I think they try to get us as much stuff as possible as indicated by the URLs they have provided. My hat’s off to them.
